Horn Buckle is a 16hh Kentucky-bred son of the great Ghostzapper! He is a handsome, kind & cooperative horse that gets along well with people and horses. He is very quiet on the ground and under saddle. He has a smooth, balanced walk-trot-canter. Horn Buckle has osteoarthritis in his fetlocks from his long racing campaign. The original veterinary evaluation done when he was still at the track (i.e., prior to his OTTB rehabilitation) suggested he should be restricted to flat pleasure / trail riding, but he has been sound at CTA and we believe he can possibly do cross-rails and possibly a bit higher jumps with good care and attention to his needs (e.g., only jumping to capacity he shows ability to do and maintain soundness, providing supplements for arthritis care, etc). We’ve observed that Horn Buckle feels and moves best when he’s allowed to spend many hours each day outside in a paddock / field where he is free to move (he loves being with other horses, too), so we will seek an adopter that can provide him with many hours of turnout daily. Plus, he just loves to roll! We think he’d make a nice trail horse (a great “husband horse”) or even a light equine-assisted therapy or even flat & low-level lesson horse (cross-rails and perhaps more) given his super quiet nature and abilities.
